Based on the policy background of "integration of sports and education", this paper discusses the development trend of physical education in ordinary colleges and universities. By analyzing relevant national policy documents and combining them with the current situation of physical education in colleges and universities, the paper proposes development paths such as deepening teaching reform, strengthening curriculum system construction, promoting traditional sports events, enhancing teaching and training, and improving the competition system. The research aims to provide reference for promoting the healthy growth of young people and cultivating socialist builders and successors with well-rounded development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor.
