The biological activity of bamboo leaf flavonoids and its application in the production of livestock and poultry
Objectives The application of bamboo leaf flavonoids as feed for animal and additives of veterinary drug in the production of livestock and poultry was studied to provide reference for the development of novel additives of feed. Methods The biological activity of bamboo leaf flavonoids and its recent application in the production of animal husbandry were summarized by reviewing related literature. Results Bamboo leaf flavonoids are compounds extracted from bamboo leaves with various biological activities, which play a certain role in improving the production performance, meat quality, and immunity of livestock and poultry. Conclusions The extraction of flavonoids from bamboo leaves has achieved industrial production and is inexpensive. It has good application prospects as an additive of feed and veterinary drug in the production of livestock and poultry. At present, it is necessary to further strengthen the studies on the clinical application and the extraction process of bamboo leaf flavonoids based on their basic biological activity to promote the development of animal husbandry with high-quality.
