Abstract

Objectives The feed intake and growth performance of pigs were studied to improve the efficiency of pig farming. Methods Factors contributing to the decrease in feed intake of pigs were analyzed based on the case study of pig farming industry and related literature. The corresponding strategies for regulating nutrition of pigs were proposed. Results The main factors affecting the feed intake of pigs were and non-disease-related elements. The disease-related elements included gastrointestinal diseases, infectious diseases, and oral inflammations. The non-disease-related elements included the feed, management, and stress. These were closely related to the feeding and management of farms. Conclusions Comprehensive nutritional regulation including the scientific nutritional combinations, rational utilization of minerals, microecological agents, and traditional Chinese medicines can effectively reduce the harm caused by the decrease in feed intake of pigs and promote the healthy and rapid development of farming pigs.
