Effects of adding vitamin ADE to feed on the recovery of ovarian function in Pingliang red cow
Objectives The problem of ovarian diseases in the production of Pingliang red cow was solved to promote the recovery of ovarian function, and increase its conception rate. Methods 480 Pingliang red cow with ovarian diseases were collected from 14 large-scale farms and 100 farming households from June 2018 to April 2023. They were divided into four groups including the experiment group Ⅰ (ovarian static group), the experiment group Ⅱ (ovarian dysfunction group), the experiment group Ⅲ (ovarian cyst group), and the control group based on direct examination and ultrasound examination. Among them, the experimental group was consisted of 80 heads in each group and divided into 2 subgroups of 40 heads each based on 1-4 fetuses and more than 4 fetuses, treated with "vitamin ADE + hormones + traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) ". 240 Pingliang red cow with three different ovarian diseases were selected as the control group, with 80 cows in each group and gestational ages of 1-7 fetuses, treated with "hormones + TCM ". The experiment lasted for 180 days. The changes in the reproductive performance of the treated cattle herd were observed and the recovery of ovarian function in Pingliang red cow was recorded. Results The addition of vitamin ADE to the feed had a good effect on treating various ovarian diseases in Pingliang red cow. The conception rate of 1-4 fetuses in Pingliang red cow was significantly higher than that of more than 4 fetuses by 5%-10%. The conception rate of Pingliang red cow treated with vitamin ADE + hormone + TCM was significantly higher than that with hormone + TCM by 13.7% -21.3 %. Conclusions Adding vitamin ADE to the feed has a significant effect on promoting the recovery of ovarian function and improving conception rate in Pingliang red cow.
