Serological investigation of blue-tongue disease in large-scale cattle farms in Shandong Province
Objectives To understand the incidence and prevalence of blue-tongue disease in large-scale cattle farms in Shandong Province. Methods 738 serum samples including 383 cow serum and 355 beef serum from 25 cattle farms including 13 dairy farms and 12 meat cattle farms in Shandong Province were randomly selected to test the antibody against blue-tongue disease with serological detection methods. The positive rates of individual and population were measured. Results 3 out of 25 cattle farms had positive antibodies against blue tongue disease, with a population positivive rate of 12.00%. 3 of the 738 samples were positive, and the individual positive rate was 0.41%. Conclusions In 2022, there were infections of blue tongue disease in large-scale cattle farms in Shandong Province.
