Abstract

Polyacrylonitrile fibers (PAN-f) were loaded onto the surface of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes, followed by the deposition of polydopamine (PDA) on the surface to fabricate PVDF/PAN-f/PDA composite photothermal evaporation membranes. The water evaporation performance and photothermal water purification capabilities of these membranes were investigated. The results indicated that the incorporation of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) enhanced the hydrophilicity of the composite film and provides more water transport channels. The PVDF/PAN-f/PDA-0.4 membrane exhibited the highest photothermal evaporation performance, reaching 2.26 kg/m2, and maintained excellent performance even after 10 cycles. For different types of polluted water solutions, the PVDF/PAN-f/PDA-0.4 membrane demonstrated outstanding photothermal purification capabilities, with evaporation rates remaining above 2.0 kg/m2 and stable performance over long-term operation. Therefore, the PVDF/PAN-f/PDA-0.4 membrane can be effectively used for photothermal wastewater purification applications.
