Abstract

In order to realize green production, poly 1,4-cyclohexyledimethylene terephthalate (PETG) was synthesized through chemical regenerating dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), mono ethylene (MEG) and 1,4-cyclohexyledimethanol (CHDM). The results showed that PETG can be synthesized under the conditions of n(CHDM+MEG):n(DMT)of 2.2:1, transesterification temperature of 205 ℃ and polycondensation reaction temperature 275 ℃. The intrinsic viscosity of the co-polyester was 0.748 9 dL/g, the melting temperature was 182.10 ℃. Through analysing the chemical structure and thermodynamic performance for co-polyester, testing the mechanical tensile properties for melted injection moulding samples, and comparing with the product from industrial plant, it was found that the composition of the main functional groups was consistent, but the thermal stability and mechanical properties were reduced.
